How Does PzDB work?

Most CGI content files contain hints in their file and folder names as to what they are and to what other content they may be related.

PzDB indexes all your Poser Libraries (or any other set of folders you wish) and finds all these hints (which we call Keywords), and then cross-references the related content, automatically creating Groups of content based on these relationships and based on common usage, and then provides an easy-to-use browsable and searchable database that can be integrated with Poser and used to replace the Standard Poser Library Palette entirely.

For instance:
\Runtime\Libraries\Character\New V3 Clothes\Boots.cr2
\Runtime\Libraries\Character\Rocketship\Vicki3_SciFi_Sneakers.cr2

Both of these file paths clearly refer to shoes that would fit the DAZ Victoria 3 model, but unless you knew that you had these files, and  exactly where they were, you would probably be unable to find them.

PzDB will zero in on the Keywords V3 and Vicki3 and automatically place these items in your Victoria 3 Group.  Then Searching that Group with the “footwear” Search Pattern would automatically find these items.

The first step in using PzDB is to index a Library. Then PzDB performs an extensive importing, indexing, grouping and cross-referencing procedure.  After you do that, you are ready to Browse and Search Content. That’s all there is to it.

The PzDB Main Browser viewing the “Animals” Group which contains Figures, Poses, Props
and Materials from several folders.

Here, the “Wolf” figure has been selected and is visible as the Current Item.
Other items in that folder include Cat, Dog and Lion, and the Related Folders provide links to other Wolf and Wolf Poses folders.

The Search Tab with the pre-saved "Hair" search loaded.
This Search Pattern finds all Items with the words "hair," "curls," "ponytail," "updo," etc. while ignoring Items that contains "chair," "bodyhair" and other words that might be confused for hair.
PzDB has pre-saved Search Patterns for Hair, Clothing, Bikinis, Shoes, Weapons, and many others.
